Shop, formerly dwelling. c1600, with additions of c1900.
Timber-framed with plain tiled roof, extended in brick with
mock timbering. 3 parallel ranges with gables facing street,
the original structure to the centre.
Original structure framed in small square panels with enriched
quatrefoil decoration, billet moulded cross beam, and close
studding with quatrefoil panels in gable apex. Inserted C20
shop front to ground floor, and 3-light casement window above.
Fluted brick axial stack. This range now flanked by 2
additional gabled ranges, with inserted shop fronts to ground
floor, and mock timbering above.
Rear range at right angles to the original building probably
added in early C18. Painted brick with plain tiled roof.
Doorway with overlight to left, and three 12-pane sashes to
ground floor and 12-pane sashes above. Deep modillion eaves
cornice to overhanging roof. Curved coping to gable, with end
wall stack.
INTERIOR to this section contains fine early C18 open-well
staircase with turned balusters and closed string and
ground-floor room to right has fielded panelling. Single bay
addition to this range, possibly early C19 with 12-pane sash
in each floor.
