Terrace of 8 houses, now offices. c1830, with alterations
c1970. By William Flockton. Ashlar. Roof not visible. 3
rendered ridge stacks. Classical Revival style.
EXTERIOR: plinth, ground floor lintel band, eaves cornice and
blocking course. 3 storeys; 17 window range. Windows are
mainly 12 pane sashes. Alternate ground floor windows have
pediments: alternate first floor windows have cornices.
Central portico with flanking wings and end pavilions.
Pedimented central portico has 6 giant Ionic columns. Under
the portico, 5 windows, the central ones on each floor blank.
On either side, a range of 5 windows, those to the second
floor being 6 pane sashes. End pavilions have 2 giant Ionic
columns in antis, corner pilasters, and additional corniced
parapets. Each has a very large tripartite glazing bar sash on
each floor. Returns have a projecting centre, 3 windows, with
the central window corniced. Above, 3 smaller windows. Central
doorcase with Doric columns, now containing a 12 pane sash.
Rear elevation has irregular fenestration with glazing bar
sashes.
INTERIOR: refitted interior has entrance hall with cross beam
ceiling and plain stone fireplace with hob grate.
