Lodge to Fox Hill (qv), with gates, gate piers and walls.
c1862. By George Corson. For FW Tetley. Coursed squared
gritstone, slate roof, ashlar piers, wooden rails and gates.
Single-storey lodge with upper floor in roof. Gothic Revival
style.
Lodge: facade to drive has doorway left with round arch,
rectangular bay window right with stone mullions and slate
roof, small gable dormer above in wood with 2 lights divided
by short column and wrought-iron finial. Left return, to road:
gable right, with 3-light stone mullion windows, set back on
left a short wing with steep lean-to roof with gable dormer as
front and on right a very prominent chimney with row of 4
circular stone shafts crenellated, circular stair turret in
angle with high conical roof and finial.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: low curved walls with inner and outer
piers, the inner pair with deep cornice and banded ball
finials. Ramped 2-leaf gates with strap hinges, close-set bars
and dog bars and semicircular braces, possibly early C20
replacements when S Kitson was making alterations to Fox Hill
(qv).
