House now flats. Dated 1861 with later C19 and early C20 additions. For Thomas Wolryche Stansfield. Coursed squared gritstone, slate roof. 2 storeys with attics, 3 x 2 bay original main range. In Gothic Revival style. Parallel-roofed rear wing projecting to SE with linking angle turret and refaced with Vernacular Revival-style timber cladding and angled entrance to rear (N). Main SW facade: central stone porch, later glazing, stone columns with carved capitals, cusped arches, shallow moulded pediment and carved finial, gargoyle on left return. 3 stepped gables, the right bay projects and has a large canted bay window to ground floor with ornate carved crenellation. 3-light windows left and to 1st floor where the window heads are ogee-form with carved stone plaques. A rose window right and lancets with cusped heads to gables; modillion eaves cornice, original rainwater goods, tall corniced end stacks and forward of ridge, left of centre. Rear: sash windows to rear of original range, Tudor-style stone arch and 6-panel door to angled entrance with flanking and 1st-floor mullion and transom windows, panelled parapet above; to left 2 cross windows to each floor, the upper floor having square-framed timber cladding, half-hipped roof. Right return: original range with external stack, canted bay window and stepped-gable to dormer; linking turret with tall paired window to ground floor and cross windows above, octagonal pointed roof; gable of added wing projects right, also with cross windows to ground floor, oriel to upper floor, carved stone plaques, gable coping and finial. INTERIOR: not inspected. TW Stansfield was a wool merchant and partner in the firm of S Brown and Co of Bradford; Mrs Stansfield lived here by 1888 and by 1897 Mrs Yates was occupier, possibly the builder of the rear range. By 1920 'The Grove' was the property of Harry Hirsch and later the property was divided into Weetwood Grove and Weetwood Grange.
