Retaining wall. 1936. Architectural layout by JC Proctor.
Walls of Bramley Fall sandstone, steps of Elland Edge stone.
Length approx 70m to The Headrow, including break for steps,
and 40m to Oxford Place; height at corner approx 3m, reducing
as ground slope rises. Massive blocks, rusticated lower
courses, heavily moulded ashlar masonry above, cylindrical
terminals. The work was carried out by JT Wright and Sons,
builders, of Leeds and cost ยป10,000.
