Row of 2-storey weavers' dwellings with 3rd-storey communal
loom room above and stables, now 4 houses. Late C18, converted
late C20. Finely coursed stone, low-pitched hipped stone slate
roof and small paired eaves brackets. 2-light (above archway
3-light) windows with plain stone lintels, sills and mullions,
multi-pane top-hinged casements replaced fixed-light windows.
Ground-floor 3 doorways in plain stone surrounds, 6-panel
doors; to right a 2-storey rusticated elliptical-arch carriage
way with keyblock and moulded impost. Inside carriageway a
trapdoor with hoist to loomroom above.
Rear: adjoining at right angles behind No.159 is former
stables with low-pitched stone slate roof, 1st-floor centre
loft door with flanking fixed-light multi-pane windows. Ground
floor 2 larger 2-light multi-pane fixed-light windows with
plain stone sills, lintels, mullions, 2 doorways, wide double
doors to left.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
An important example of a group of weavers' dwellings and loom
room.
