Church of St Andrew

A Grade I Listed Building in Rippingale, Lincolnshire

Hugh Gobard

Uploader's Comments

Directly beneath the easternmost window is a mid 13th century effigy, laid on a 20th century table tomb, of a deacon, one of only three in the country. He is holding an open book which bears the inscription – “Here lies Hugh Gobard the palmer son of John Gobard …. Pray for his soul.”
