Two cottages. Early/mid C19. Limestone ashlar, 2 raking
dormers in coped slate gambrel roof with brick ridge stack to
the party wall. Double-depth plan.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys with attics; each cottage is 2-window
range. C19 2-light casement windows to dormers; continuous
platband. No.19 to the left has C20 windows and door to the
left, No.20 has C20 horned 6/6-pane sash windows and a door to
the right. One ground-floor room with a C19 2-light casement
window and ashlar facade extends under a flying freehold of
No.21 to the right (qv).
INTERIOR: not inspected.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: attached and coming forward to the left
of No.19 is a random-bond brick wall approx 1m high with
half-round capping bricks; a similar wall with plain brick
capping fronts the cottage.
HISTORY: The Butts was a place where archery was practised.
