Two cottages, (formerly 3 cottages). Late C17/early C18.
Limestone rubble with freestone quoins and dressings,
double-Roman tile roof, stone stack with brick shaft to the
left gable end of the right-hand cottage, C20 brick stack to
front slope of the gable end to the left-hand cottage. Each
cottage is 2-unit plan, the cottage to the left, now part of
No.6, is at a right angle to the street. To the right is a C20
lower extension.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys; each cottage is 2-window range. A
continuous ground-floor string course rises to form hoodmoulds
over the chamfered stone architraves to doors at the outer
ends. Stone-mullioned cyma-moulded 2-light windows. No.6 to
the left has C20 door, PVC windows and a roof swept at the
eaves.
The forward wing has a C20 hipped roof and one C20 2-light PVC
window to each floor. No.7 has C19 3-pane casement windows, a
C19 6-panel door and a steeply-pitched gambrel roof with C20
rooflights. Although the roofs are altered the facade is of
continuous stonework.
INTERIOR: not inspected but believed to be altered.
