1). John Farnham 1587. Chest tomb with effigies of a knight and his wife Dorothy nee Walwyn. John Farnham penchner to Queene Elizabeth Died in the yeare of our Lorde 1587. Shield of arms: Quarterly 1 and 4, quarterly Or and azure two crescents counterchanged a crescent gules for difference (Farnham) 2 (not interpreted) 3 Gules a saltire ermine (Nevile). Impaling Azure a bend ermine a bordure of the last in chief a talbot statant argent (Walwyn). Crest: An eagle or, wings close, preying on the back of a rabbit argent (Farnham). Restored: In Nichols (1795) this altar tomb is shown with the verses at the feet and not the head; missing hands and no eagle and rabbit at the feet for him nor dragon at her feet. The verses appear as two columns of seven lines and are given in Nichols (1795) as: John Farnham here within this tombe interred doth remaine/ Whose life resigned up to God, the heavens his soul containe/ And if you do desire to knowe his well deserved praise/ Go aske in Court what life he led, and how he spent his days/ Where princes great he truly servd , with whom he stood in grace/ For good conceit and pleasaunt wit favord every place/ Beloved of the noblest sorte, well liked of the rest/ Unto his friend a faithfull friend, and fellowe to the best/ In warres he spent his youth, for youth the best expence of days/ And did transfer from field to court his just rewarde of praise/ Descended of an antient house, with honour ledde his life/ Only with one daughter blest, and with a virtuous wife/ God gave him here on earth to live twice fortie years and odd/ With life well spent he liveth, now, for aye, with God.
2). Stone plaque with painted shields. To the Glory of God and in loving memory of William Edward John Basil Farnham of Quorn House and his wife Catherine Matilda Anne Georgina 2nd daughter of (Sir Francis Scott 3rd Baronet of Great Barr Staffs. She was Governor of the Royal Hospitals of Bethlehem and Bridewell 1908-1933 and Chairman of Ladies Committee General Lying-In Hospital, London 1914-1933. Born 6th December 1858 died 25th October 1937) and their daughter Lilian Mildred Gertrude born February 1884 died May 1935. (Photo Jun 2015).
