Thomas Ware Tannery office and
attached wall and piers

Office. Mid C19. Red squared, coursed Pennant rubble and red
brick, with limestone cills and double Roman tile roof, brick
ridge stacks. Single-depth plan.
2 storeys; 4-window range. A wide curved central gabled
section projects with an entrance in the right-hand return,
and the left-hand return gable is curved. Segmental-arched
windows have 3- and 4-light timber mullion casements, with
transoms on the ground floor. Plain brick rear elevation faces
Coronation Road. C20 single-storey extensions to the central
bay. INTERIOR: plain office interior.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: high rusticated limestone ashlar piers
and short walls, with attached perimeter red rubble wall.
HISTORICAL NOTE: Bedminster had a large tanning industry in
the C19, of which this is the last survival.
