House in row, with shop. Mid to late C18, with probable C16
fabric. Flemish bond brickwork, slate or tile roofs, brick
stack. Wide parallel-plan street front has a deep wing to
back, right, and an angled stair turret, left. The building is
fitted to a wedge-shaped site, where Church Street begins to
turn into High Street.
3 storeys and attic, 3-windowed. 4-pane sashes in moulded face
boxes, rubbed brick voussoirs with fluted keystones with
cornice, stone cills. Ground floor has a late C20 plate-glass
recessed shop front, with intermediate brick pier. Moulded
stone cornice, blocking course and coped parapet to a mansard
roof in slate front and tiled back, with small hipped dormer
to the right. Coped verge to rendered gable, left. Large brick
stack, right.
At the back is an early 2-light gabled dormer, and a deep wing
with steep mansard roof, tiled. To the right, with a slated
roof and set at an angle to the main building, a full-height
stair turret.
INTERIOR not inspected, but previous list refers to C16
panelling and a staircase with twisted balusters and square
newels.
