Near this place lies the body of John Hurst Senr, Gent, Who by Will devised the sum of 10s to be paid yearly out of the Stone pit Close situated in Holywell to buy Pious Books, which are to be given in the presence of the Vicar, and Chapel warden of Holywell, to any poor Children, whom the Owner of the said Close shall think proper. He died 20th Nov 1691 aged 74. Also, John Hurst Junr, who died 18th Jun 1699 aged 53. Likewise John Hurst Gent, son of John Hurst Junr, Gent, Who gave by Will the sum of 20s a Year for ever , to be paid out of the aforesaid Stone pit Close, for putting out to Apprentice Children that shall be born at Holywell in such manner as the propriator of the said Close shall think convenient. He died 19th May 1731 age 49. And also William Hurst Gent, Son of the above John Hurst Junr, Gent, Who died 22nd Sept 1762 in his 68th year. And also near this Place lies the Body of Mistress Ann Hurst, Daughter of the abovenamed John Hurst Junr, Gent, Who died 2nd May 1775 aged 83. (Photo Mar 2007).
