To the memory of Sir John Brownlowe, d. 16th Jul 1697 age 38, of Belton in the county of Lincoln, Baronet (son and heir of Sir Richard Brownlowe of Great Humby, baronet), and heir to Sir John Brownlowe of Belton, Baronet, who by Dame Alice his wife, eldest daughter of Richard Sherard of Lopthorpe, Lincs, esquire, was the father to Richard and Anne, both died young, and five daughters: Elizabeth, married to the Right Honourable John Lord Burghley son and heir apparent to John, Earl of Exeter. Margaret d. Aug 1710 age 23. Jane married the most Noble Peregrine, Marquess of Lindley, son and heir to the Duke of Ancaster. Eleanor married Sir John Brownlowe, baronet, since the Right Hon. Lord Viscount Tyrconnel. The arms atop the monument are; Or, an escutcheon between eight martlets sable, inescutcheon argent a hand gules, for Baronet Brownlowe. On the left, Arms of Baronet Brownlowe impaled with Argent, a chevron between three torteauxes for Sherard. On the right, Arms of Brownlowe with a label of three points sable for eldest son and heir.
