7/15 Barn, Tanhouse Farm

GV II

Barn, late C18 or early C19, timber-framed, weatherboarded, on
stone plinth, tiled roof. 3-bay barn with central threshing floor.
Fairly high rubble stone plinth, boarded walls above: on back
weatherboarding replaced with butt-jointed, on gable corrugated
iron. Central double doors rise to just short of eaves with
cambered timber lintel: wall framing largely unaltered, 2-panels
high with tension braces. To one side of threshing floor is a
timber sill with tension braces to door posts: ends of sill later
cut away for access. Threshing floor stone paved. Trusses have
angle struts and collar, two pairs purlins and a square ridge;
wind-bracing on the end bays. Included for group value.
