Cottage adjoining former smithy. Roughcast cob on stone footings; the cottage roof
is thatched. 2-room plan; the entrance appears always to have led directly into the
right-hand room. Axial stack, mostly of stone, with some brick to shaft heats
right-hand room; external left-hand end stone stack with set-offs and brick shaft,
heats left-hand room. It is possible that the building was originally two 1-room
cottages. 2 storeys.
Exterior. Front: irregular 2-window range. First floor with one 2 and one 3-light
casement window, the latter pegged. Ground floor : 3 windows of 2 and 3-lights.
Porch thatched, boarded and part-glazed.
Rear with leanto.
Interior: right-hand room with chamfered axial ceiling beam with scroll stops over
fireplace only; blocked fireplace (retains bake oven), the lintel visible,
chamfered with scroll stops. Set in the front wall of this room is a small cupboard
with fielded panel door and formerly with butterfly hinges.
