Weir surmounted by ford with revetment walls crossing River
Aire. Early C19. Gritstone. Approx 30m long and 2m wide.
Massive stone blocks set on edge form weir and roadway with
edge-tooled stone revetment walls approx 3m long flanking
approach roads on each river bank.
Part of the extensive river engineering works at the time of
the building of Burley Mills (qv) and possibly St Anne's which
was built by 1826. Suitable for vehicular traffic, the ford
gave access to the island formed between the mill race and
river with a bridge over the channel at St Anne's Mills,
demolished.
