Terrace of 3 houses. c1800. Yellow brick with later roof
extensions behind parapet; stucco details. 4 storeys and
basement, 3 bays each.
No.81 has banded, rusticated stucco ground-floor with door in
right-hand bay. Half Doric columns to round-arched doorcase
with cornice over; panelled reveals to recessed door with
cornice head and plain fanlight. Ground-floor sash windows
have stucco lintels and keystones and cast-iron balconettes.
Flat, gauged-brick arches to upper windows in stucco lined
reveals, those on 1st floor long casements with wrought-iron
guards; those to 2nd and 3rd floors sashes.
Nos 82 & 83 have timber doorcases with half columns with
foliage capitals supporting dentil cornice with panelled
soffit. Door with 6 panels and decorative fanlight in
round-arched recess with panelled reveals and soffit. Flat,
gauged-brick arches to sash windows with glazing bars in
stucco lined reveals. Stucco dentil cornice above 2nd floor
continues across all 3 houses.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: spearhead step and area railings with urn
finials at corners.
Nos 81-83 (consec) form a group with Nos 75-78 (consec), 85 &
86 (qqv).
