Includes: Nos.7 AND 9 and attached railings REGENT STREET.
Pair of houses with further pair of houses to return and
attached railings. c1832, with later additions and
alterations. Pinkish-brown brick with painted stucco facades,
concealed roof and cast-iron balcony and railings.
STYLE: Late Classical.
EXTERIOR: 4 storeys, 5 first-floor openings arranged 2:3, the
fourth opening is blind to first, second and third floor.
Stucco detailing includes moulded first-floor sill band
surmounted by Ionic pilasters to ends through first and second
floors, crowning frieze and cornice.
Windows: ground, first and second floors have 6/6 sashes with
margin-lights, tooled surrounds.
Entrances: to centre and to left: 1 and 2 steps to panelled
doors with overlights with glazing-bars. Tuscan pilastered
surrounds, frieze, cornice. Third floor: 3/6 sashes with
margin lights. Central raised upshot. Copings. Ball finial to
left. Off-centre stack.
Right return (to Regent Street): 4 storeys with basement, 5
first floor windows. First floor: moulded sill band continues
from front facade, and supports Ionic pilasters to ends
through first and second floors, frieze and cornice continue
from front facade. Windows (as front), ground, first and
second floors have 6/6 sashes in plain reveals and with
margin-lights and tooled surrounds, ground and first-floor
windows have sills. Third floor has 3/6 sashes with
margin-lights in plain reveals and with sills and tooled
architraves.
Entrances to right of each house: 3 roll-edged steps to (No.7)
2-fielded-panel door with overlight with margin-lights in
plain reveals and with architrave of Tuscan pilasters, double
frieze and cornice; (No.9) 2-panel door, the lower panel
roll-moulded, with overlight with margin-lights in plain
reveals. Basement has part-glazed door and casement window (to
No.7), 3/6 sash with margin-lights in tooled architrave (to
No.9). Balcony to first floor, second window of Regent Street
facade has Greek key motif.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: area railings with gate and to sides of
steps of No.9 have fleur-de-lys finials.

HISTORICAL NOTE: Dale Street was laid out c1832 and the east
side built by 1834.
Occupies an important corner site.
