The White House

GV II

House. C17 origins with C19 and C20 alterations. Timber-frame
with plastered infill and render; gabled old tile roof with
brick rear stacks. 3-unit plan.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys plus attic; 3-window range. Rendered
ground floor. Central 2-storey C20 gabled porch has jettied
first floor. Entrance has 4-centred head and paired plank
doors with studs and strap hinges.
Entrance is flanked by 2-light wood-framed windows with leaded
glazing; canted bay window to each end has leaded glazing and
hipped roof continued as pentice, interrupted by porch.
First floor has paired 2-light windows with lattice leaded
glazing to porch; window to each end has 8/8 horned sash; 3
gabled half-dormers, 2 with 8/8 horned sashes flanking one
with 2-light leaded casement. Square framing above first floor
with decorative panelling to porch; attic probably an C18 or
C19 addition, with renewed rafters exposed at eaves.
