Earlier 19th century with later additions and alterations. Asymmetrical single storey with attic, 3-bay gabled house forming end of irregular terrace. Harl-pointed rubble sandstone; tooled cream sandstone dressings; predominantly sandstone ashlar margins (some chamfered); projecting cills.
SE (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: gabled porch advanced at centre with corbelled wallhead; narrow light centred at ground; blind rectangular niche above; modern timber panelled door in return to left (chamfered surround). Single window at ground in bay recessed to outer left. Single windows at both floors in gabled bay recessed to outer right; bird-shaped finial above.
NW (REAR) ELEVATION: single openings at ground off-set to left of centre; full-length box dormer above.
Predominantly modern uPVC glazing; 16-pane glazing in timber sash and case window centred in front gable; 6-pane timber porch light. Grey slate roof; raised stone skews; sandstone ridging; cast-iron rainwater goods. Stepped red brick apex stack to SW; circular can.
INTERIOR: not seen 1997.
PAVEMENT: cobbled path to front of house forming end of continuous stretch to front of terrace.
B Group with remaining houses in row (with the exception of the adjacent Poltarie). At one time a telegraph office, this cottage is now entirely residential. Completing the picturesque terrace which stands at the centre of Longformacus village, overlooking the Dye Water, its significance lies in its prominent corner siting.
