This building flanks Mounthoolie Lane which, together with Laing Street opposite, follow the course of an open ditch (the long gutter) which crossed Albert Street at this point. This substantial town house not only stands further into the street than its neighbours, but retains its original crowstepped gables. The front elevation is enlivened by a corniced band course with decorative scrolled terminals.
