Circa 1800, with later 19th century wing to rear and pavilion to E. 2-storey, 3-bay, traditional L-plan farmhouse with single storey pavilion. Coursed whinstone rubble with raised ashlar margins and droved quoins; squared rubble pavilion. Eaves lintel course.
S (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: symmetrical. Small enclosed piend-roofed porch to centre bay at ground and part-glazed door with 2-pane fanlight behind, windows in flanking bays and regular fenestration to 1st floor. Slightly set-back single storey piend-roofed pavilion with window to outer right.
W ELEVATION: gabled elevation with window to left of centre at each floor; evidence of 2 attic lights in gablehead now blocked. Tiny window high up in lean-to bay to outer left, and wall adjoining beyond.
E ELEVATION: modern window to pavilion adjoining gabled elevation.
N ELEVATION: irregularly fenestrated elevation with projecting piended wing to left of centre and single storey lean-to bay to right.
12-pane glazing pattern in timber sash and case windows. Grey slates. Coped ashlar stacks with some cans and thackstanes; ashlar-coped skews with ropework moulded scroll skewputts.
BOUNDARY WALLS: coped rubble boundary walls.
Group with Dalginch Steading. In 1838 the NSA recorded "General Balfour of Balbirnie (as) proprietor of Dalguinch (sic)".
