Incised slate slab. The central image is The Pelican In Her Piety: most often represented in stained glass windows and heraldic shields as a Swan pecking her breast, and feeding her blood to her young in an act of ultimate sacrifice. Here, the faith of the artist has been so strong that the words have been taken literally. The flanking images are pssibly St Tielo and Medicine. (Photo Oct 2010).
