Caldey Cross. The text is in medieval Latin, but the characters are not our usual modern ones. I shall assume that the character values were identical each time they appeared, but may have been sharpened. I read H as n, backward N as e, a line on top as a doubling or as an extra n.
Ex tiegno cruci tierrum finanti rogo omnibus ammulanti dumindi exorent pro animae calluoconi.
By the authority of St Tielo's cross of stone I call everyone, who can walk, to this place to pray for the soul of Malcolm.
