To the memory of William Done Bushell MA FSA formerly fellow of St John College Cambridge, assistant master at Harrow School and Lord of the Manor at Caldey Island 1897 to 1917. born 1838, died 1917. Zealous for the preservation of the past, and filled with vision for the future he restored these ancient monastic buildings and gave back the Priory Chapel to its former use. Freely he served because he freely loved. (FSA Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries). (Photo Oct 2010).
