History

Earlier to mid C19 house, presumably formerly stuccoed like No 5 adjoining, which may have been a service wing. Building shown in this location on tithe map of 1844. In use as shop, Suzanne's, in 2000.

Exterior

Attached house, stone rubble walls, probably formerly stuccoed, slate roof and brick end stacks. Two and a half storey, 3-window range, with 2 attic gables, each with a small 4-pane sash window. Three, larger, 4-pane sash windows on first floor and one similar, but larger window either side of central doorway. Windows are double glazed to front elevation. C20 half-glazed door with plain overlight. All window openings with plain stucco surrounds, and plain stucco plinth. Timber doorcase with simple pilasters and cornice, obscured by shop sign.

Included as a prominent gabled house on the street line, of group value with the other listed houses in this part of Hamilton Street.
