Church of St Edith

A Grade I Listed Building in Monks Kirby, Warwickshire

Church of St Edith, Monks Kirby

Uploader's Comments

Two stage tower with stepped buttresses at the angles. Early C18 parapet and pinnacles. In 1350 the Black Death killed half the population of Warwickshire and the priory fell into ruin. In 1360 the monks started rebuilding and the red sandstone part of the tower and the south porch are the most substantial evidence of their programme. (Photo Sept 2013).
