Behind the table is part of an alabaster slab, all that remains of the tomb of Robert Whatton who died the 10th September 1577 and of Margaret his wife who died 6 days later. It was placed here by John Swift Whatton of Trinity College Cambridge and Lincolns Inn in 1931. (Photo Jun 2015).
