The upper half of the east window. At the top, St Peter sits enthroned as the Bishop of Rome, the first Pope. On either side, angels swing censers aloft by heavy chains. Next are four shields: 1) Gules three passion nails or in pile, for the crucifixion, 2) Gules, four crosses fitchy between two crossed keys or, for St Peter, 3) Argent a lion rampant azure grasping a plate, Emmanuel, 4) Gules a ladder or placed as bend sinister, for stairway to heaven. In the panels are 1) St Peter with keys to heavens gate 2) St Mary in blue robe 3) The Crucifixion, 3) St John the Evangelist, with Gospel book 4) St Paul with sword and bible. (Photo Apr 2008).
