Barn. C16, extended in C17 and C19. Timber-framed,
weatherboarded, roofed with machine-made red clay tiles. 5
bays aligned NE-SW, and C17 midstrey to NW of middle bay.
C18/19 lean-to extensions in N angle, forming a catslide with
the main roof. Two C19 lean-to extensions along the remainder
of the NW side. All the lean-tos and the midstrey have similar
tiles. Large double doors to midstrey, in defective condition,
and C19/20 smaller double doors to SE of threshing bay. High
loading door in NE gable end. INTERIOR: jowled posts, arched
braces trenched outside heavy studding, and inserted straight
braces inside studding. Arched braces to tie-beams, some
replaced, and additional C19 bolted handing knees. Edge-halved
and bridled scarfs in wallplates. The wallplate over the
midstrey is butt-jointed above the adjacent bay posts. Some
additional posts and tie-beams at irregular intervals. One
original tie-beam in SW part reported missing, concealed by
hay bales at time of inspection, August 1989. Clasped purlin
roof with vertical queen struts. Roof retiled c1946 after war
damage.
