GV II

Terrace of 4 cottages, now a public house. c1700, converted to
a beer-house in early C19. Timber-framed, plastered, roofed
with handmade red clay tiles. Main range facing SE, with
central stack and an external stack at each end. Narrower
parallel range to rear, late C18. Three C20 single-storey
wings to rear, symmetrically arranged. 2 storeys. Ground
floor, six C20 casements. First floor, four C20 casements.
Central C20 door in C20 gabled porch, forming a
lobby-entrance. INTERIOR: on the ground floor the former
partitions between the cottages have been reduced to
incomplete frames supporting an axial beam in each partly
chamfered. Roughly squared joists are fully jointed and pegged
to the axial beams. Hearths altered.
