Circa 1850-55 four identical close set villas. Nos 9 and 10 with linked coach
houses and Nos 8 and 11 with coach houses to north and south respectively,
giving an overall symmetry to the group. Each house is of 2 storeys with a
3 bay stucco faced symmetrical front, Italianate details. Plinth; rusticated
quoins; applied parapet to first floor, frieze with dogtooth metopes alternating
with console brackets supporting the flat eaves of gable end slate roof with
corniced chimney stacks. First floor windows in architrave surrounds with
small profiled consoles to feet, the central window pedimented, the outer window
with blind floral circle panelled balustrades. Ground floor has large windows
in panelled architrave surrounds, projecting sills on plain consoles flanking
apron panels down to plinth, large fluted console brackets supporting projecting
cornices beneath the first floor blind balustrades. Large fluted Corinthian-
colum porch, set on 3 steps, with parapet decorated in same fashion as window
balustrades. Archivolt arched doorway with panelled reveals and soffit, double
panelled door and fanlight. No 8 has a 2 storey stucco coach house with curved
swept parapet screen wall to house. No 11 has similarly linked gabled coach
house. Nos 9 and 10 have a paired coach houses under a hipped slate roof with
flat eaves.
