Pair of terrace houses. Early C19.
MATERIALS: Fine limestone ashlar, slate roofs.
EXTERIOR: Three storeys, attic and basement, each three windows, all sashes. six-pane dormers to mansard roofs, above six-pane sash to second floor, twelve-pane plus margin panes to lower floors, at first floor set to shallow sunk arched panel on broad platband. Basements have sixteen-pane sashes. No.19 includes barred opening in dwarf wall at pavement edge. Centred to each house in arch with keystone and deep reveals on set of stone steps and stone landing, panelled door with radial swagged fanlight, to each side are simple railings to stone curb to basement areas. Cornice, blocking course and parapet. Right hand end is short return, at obtuse angle, to attached No.3 Southcot Place. Return has flat full height bow with bowed sashes, six above twelve-pane, dormer, and basement filled with a flat roofed extension. Rear, right, is large square ashlar stack, and sash dormer above small six-pane sash.
INTERIORS: Not inspected. No. 19 recorded by Bath Preservation Trust 1992. End house in short stepped terrace, bow forms important townscape feature, seen prominently by those descending Lyncombe Hill, and as introduction to terraces of Southcot Place (qv).
