Coursed and stugged cream sandstone; sandstone ashlar dressings (droved in part); dry-dashed rear addition. Raised base course; moulded eaves course; chamfered surrounds to front windows.
SE (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: projecting gabled bay breaking eaves at centre with steps to replacement boarded timber door; 4-pane fanlight; blind oculus aligned above; moulded skewputts; decorative finial. Corniced canted windows at ground in flanking bays with parapets breaking eaves.
SW (SIDE) ELEVATION: single windows in both bays to right. Later addition recessed to outer left.
NE (SIDE) ELEVATION: blind elevation to original block; flat roofed modern addition adjoined to outer right.
NW (REAR) ELEVATION: not seen 1997.
Plate glass, 4- and 8-pane glazing in timber sash and case windows to front; modern timber windows to sides. Grey slate piended roofs (modern roof to addition); replacement rainwater goods. Unusual stepped wallhead stack centred in SW elevation; single circular can; modern stack to rear.
Built to serve the nearby Longformacus House (see separate list entry). A simple design, some good detailing remains - in particular the unusual stack, finialled entrance and 4-pane fanlight. The quadrant walls and gatepiers to the side are listed with Longformacus House, whilst the dovecot and walled garden contained within the estate are listed separately.
