Church of St Michael

A Grade II* Listed Building in Appleby Magna, Leicestershire

C19 wall bracket oil lamp, Church of St Michael and All Angels, Appleby Magna

Uploader's Comments

Many of these C19 bracket lamps adorn the church. Originally, they burned Colza oil (turnip seed oil), which was preferred for its bright, clean and odourless flame. All the lamps have been converted to electricity, though some brackets have lost their lamps. (Photo Sept 2015)
