Pulled slates finding a more sophisticated architectural use than mere churchyard paving. The middle slab of the banister is of Mountsorrel slate: Rectangular slate with relief carved feathery winged angels in the top corners. In Memory of Dorothy the Wife of William Huskisson who Departed this Life October the 25th 1749 Aged 41 Left Issue two Sons and four daughters Samuel, William, Elizabeth, Ann, Sarah, and Mary. God grant we all Arrive to Happiness/ As we do hope that our dear Mother is-. (Photo Sept 2015).
