The Reverend John Moore purchased 20th July 1813 £33-6-8 in consolidated annuities, and directed the Interest to be paid to the Appleby Old Friendly Society so long as it exists, and if at any time hereafter the said Society shall be dissolved the said Interest shall be laid out in books to be purchased yearly at Eastertide by the Rector of Appleby for the use of the Poor of the Parish of Appleby who are members of the Church of England. The above Society was dissolves in 1924 and the said £22-6-8 paid over to the Official Trustees of the Charitable Funds under the orders of the Charity Commissioners dated 30th September 1924 (trustees listed, but obscured in this picture).
