Villa, now 2 houses. c.1840, altered. Red brick in Flemish
bond with sandstone dressings and slate roof. Double-depth
plan with long back extension. Two storeys over cellars, 4
windows (now 2:2), with 2-window centre slightly set back. The
outer bays have canted bay windows at ground floor, and all
the other windows are 4-pane sashes in cross-window form with
hoodmoulds. The right-hand return wall of No.16 has a tall
doorway (the original main entrance) with cavetto moulded
surround and hoodmould, and a panelled door with 3-pane
overlight; and windows with altered glazing imitating sashes
with glazing bars. The left return wall of No.16A has has an
inserted doorway with panelled door and overlight with
diagonal glazing bars, protected by a Georgian-style porch
with 2 columns; and various sashed windows with glazing bars.
Gable chimneys and one ridge chimney, all of stone, panelled
and with cornices. INTERIOR: No.16 has a large staircase with
open string and wreathed handrail.
