Description

LYTHAM ST ANNES

SD3627SW BEACH STREET, Lytham
621-1/5/17 (West side)
Nos.2, 3 AND 4

GV II

Terraced row of 3 town houses. Early to mid C19, altered. Red
brick in Flemish bond, with some sandstone dressings, slate
roof. Double-depth plan, each house double-fronted, with
individual back extensions. Georgian style. Three storeys,
3+3+3 windows, all probably originally symmetrical but with
added canted bays to the right. Plain frieze and moulded
cornice. Each has a central round-headed doorway with stepped
surround and set-in wooden doorcase with small pilasters and
cornice, and a semicircular fanlight (Nos 2 and 3 with
radiating glazing bars and No.4 with applied lead tracery). To
the right of the doorway, each has a 2-storey canted bay,
those at Nos 2 and 3 of stone with some brick, and that at
No.4 smaller and of wood with a hipped roof. All the other
windows have raised sills and flat-arched heads. No.2 has
4-pane sashes throughout, No.3 has C20 top-hung casements
imitating sashes and No.4 has 4-pane sashes except in the bay.
Forms group with No.1 to the left, (q.v.), which is in similar
style.
