Country house. C18 with alterations and extensions from 1852.
Brick and rendered brick, with dentil course cornice and
rendered parapet wall. First-floor continuous brick string
course. Hipped slate roof with flat-roofed glazed belvedere.
Scattered brick and rendered brick stacks. H-plan with
extension wings.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys. 2/2 sashes with gauged brick lintels and
stone sills. Front facade to south-west: central 3-window
range with projecting flanking wings. Central stone portico
with Doric entablature supported by Tuscan columns. Projecting
wings formed of C18 advanced bay with mid C19 projecting
3-storey canted bay with sashes on each face. Right-hand
return side to south-east: 4-window range with first-floor
windows bricked-up and altered to left and masked by
projecting C19 2-storey canted bay with sashes on each face to
right. To ground-floor left is advanced single-storey brick
bay with French windows with side lights. Left return side:
5-window range now with 4 windows at first floor. Some windows
are imitation blanks. Ground floor altered mid C19 and with
projecting single-storey wing to left incorporating mid C19
altered entrance door and portico with Doric entablature
supported on Tuscan columns and pilasters. Mid C19 2-storey
extensions to left. Rear: central projecting wing of 2
storeys; 4-window range. 3-storey 2-window range to right. Mid
C19 extensions project to extreme right.
