Hatchment of the Arms of Campbell of Cawdor impaling those of Thynne, commemorating the death of John Frederick, 2nd Baron, 1st earl Cawdor, b 8 Nov 1790, d 7 Nov 1860, who married 1816 Lady Elizabeth Thynne, daughter of the 2nd Marquess of Bath. Bl;azonry: Quarterly, 1st, Or, a harts bead cabossed sable attired gules, for Calder; 2nd, Gyronny of eight or and sable, for Campbell; 3rd, Argent a lymphad oars in action sable, for Lorne ; 4th, Per fess azure and gules a cross or, for Lort. Impaling: Barry of ten, or and sable for Boteville, quartering Argent a lion rampant, tail nowed (knotted) gules for Thynne. The Earls coronet with five silver balls is surmounted by a swan.
