Church of St Peter

A Grade I Listed Building in East Bridgford, Nottinghamshire

C14 tomb recess with Babington Arms of 1409, Church of St Peter, East Bridgford

Uploader's Comments

The Arms are Argent ten torteauxes 4,3,2,1 a label of three points azure (Babington). The effigy now in place is less likely to be that of Sir John Babington, 1409. than that of Sir John de Caltoft, whose effigy was thrown out into the churchyard at the demolition of the north transept. The picture in Nicholls, with head knocked away, seems a fair match. (Photo Jun 2015)
