South wall of chancel, an alabaster mural monument. coloured shields flank the inscription with a modillion surround rising to a round arch enclosing a coloured shield and flanked by single obelisks. The writing contains ligatures (joined letters) and elisions (missing Letter indicated by a circumflex above the previous character). -Here lieth buried Henry Sacheverell, of Barton, Esquire, sonne and heir of Richerd (the 3 sonne of Henry Sacheverell, Knight), and Elizabeth his wyfe, Daughter and sole heire of Henry Graye, base sonne of Henry, laste Lord Graye of Codnor. Which (Henry) died the 27th December in the Yere of our Lord 1598-. The Arms at the top are Quarterly 1 and 4 Argent on a saltire azure five water bougets or (Sacheverell), 3 and 4 Barry of 6 argent and azure, on a bend gules bendwise three bars or (Gray). Above the esquires helmet is the Sacheverell crest of a goat proper, a mullet sable for difference (third son). The six surrounding shields are: Sacheverell, a mullet sable for difference (Sacheverell). Argent three hares sejant gules playing on bagpipes proper (Hopwell). Argent a lion rampant sable armed and langued gules, crowned or (Segrave). Gules a snipe argent gorged with a crown or (Snitterton). Gules a pale fusily argent (Statham of Morley).
