Wall monument with shield: Sable a chevron or between three crosses flory argent ( ) Neere to this Place lieth interred the Body of Arthur Hildersam Honurably Descended from Mr Richard Poole by his Wife Margaret, Countesse of Salisbury But more honoured for his sweet and ingenuous disposition his singular wisdom in settling peace, Advising in secular affaires and satisfying doubts. His abundant Charitie and especially for his extraordinary knowledge and judgment in the Holy Scriptures his painfull (ie painstaking) and zealous preaching together with his firme and lasting constancie in the cawse he professed he loved in this place for the most part of 43 years and 6 months with great suceesse in his Ministery love and reverence of all sorts and died with much honour and lamentation March the 4th 1631 (=1632 if the year starts on January the 1st).
