Wall monument with finials, shield and urn. To the most Honourable George Augustus Francis Rawdon-Hastings Marquis of Hastings , Earl of Loudoun, Moira, and Rawdon, Baron Hastings of Ashby de la Zouch etc, who died on the 1st of January 1844 in the 36th Year of his Age This Monument is erected by his friends and neighbours of all classes in remembrance and admiration of those qualities which graced and adorned his exalted rank , especially the true benevolence that formed a feature in his character which none who knew him can ever forget. Too pure for political ambition too sensitive for party ( ) and too manly for the ( ) he lived universally beloved in the unostentatious eff( )al of every ( ) and died universally lamented. Shield with Marquis coronet: Quarterly 1 and 4 Hastings. 2 Rawdon. 3 Campbell. Inescutcheon with Earls coronet: Argent three bars azure in chief three torteaux (Earl Grey). (Photo Aug 2015).
