Sinister background black. Two shields. Dexter, Quarterly: 1, Quarterly i and iv, Argent a maunch within a bordure engrailed sable (Hastings). ii and iii, Or on a chief gules a demi-lion rampant argent (Abney). 2, Sable on a bend argent three mullets gules (Clifton). 3, Azure a cross moline or (Molyneux). 4, Gules crusilly or three lucies (ie pikes) hauriant argent (Lucy). Escutcheon of pretence, ensigned with the coronet of a countess: Quarterly of six: 1, Hastings with bordure quartering Abney. 2, Argent a maunch sable (Hastings). 3, Argent a fess between three pheons sable (Rawdon). 4, Barry of six sable and argent in chief three roundels argent (Hungerford). 5, Quarterly France and England a label of three points argent (Clarence). 6, Gyronny of eight ermine and gules (Campbell). Sinister: As escutcheon of pretence on dexter shield ensigned with a countess coronet. Supporters: Dexter, A knight in armour holding a spear in his right hand proper and plumed on the head with three feathers gules. Sinister: A lady nobly dressed, plumed on the head with three feathers argent and holding in the left hand a letter of challenge. Motto (below and between both shields) Deus meus illumina tenebras meas. The countess married Charles Frederick Clifton. (Photo Aug 2015).
